Final Time: 3:08:36
Things were not looking good going into this marathon; a forcasted high of 87 degrees combined with an unfortunate coincidence of the end of daylight savings falling on the very morning of the marathon would lead you to believe that this marathon was not going to be the easiest for the people racing it.
That was certainly the case for me. Although I was feeling good in the beginning, I went out a bit too fast. I caught myself by mile 3, and adjusted to my normal pace until mile 13, ending the half at 1:23. From there it gradually all went downhill. I started slowing down and by mile 22 I was dead. I shuffled to the finish line, where the suffering didn't end as I felt quite nauseous for another 90 minutes. Not sure exactly what went wrong here. It could be a heat thing as it was quite a hot day, and I did have to drink far more water than I normally do. It could also just be that I ran out of energy as I didn't carb-load as much as I normally do, and I didn't feel insanely sore at the end. Definitely a learning experience.
